Leaving behind a legacy spanning over three decades, Canales’ sexy bouffant styles are synonymous with the Supers of the 90s. Over the years, the hairstylist worked for brands like Gianni-era Versace, Chanel, and Dsquared2, and shot with Richard Avedon, Steven Meisel, and Annie Leibovitz for Vogue titles all over the world. Canales was also longtime hairstylist for Jennifer Lopez, creating the waves to accompany that Versace dress. “He made me feel special and beautiful for so long,” Lopez said on Instagram. “Thank you sweet, beautiful man.” Following his death, Canales’ friends and fans in the industry took to Instagram to share their memories of him. “I had the great good fortune to know and work with the legendary gentleman, the handsome hair man, the one and only Oribe,” said Jeremy Scott, who worked with the hairstylist on Moschino’s SS19 men’s show. “I will cherish the times we had together,” said Donatella Versace. Elsewhere, the likes of Naomi Campbell, Marc Jacobs, Miley Cyrus, and Cindy Crawford remembered him. Our thoughts are with Canales’ family during this difficult time. Escape the algorithm!
