It’s the end of November, the year is pretty much over, and all around the world, fashion teams everywhere are frantically putting the finishing touches to their MOST STYLISH lists (hi!) – and while it’s safe to say that Cardi B might already be nestled among the top ten of more than a few of them, the rapper isn’t resting on her laurels when it comes to serving #lewks in the final days of 2018. Case in point: the 3D-printed Balenciaga dress-slash-coat she posted to her Instagram account yesterday.

Standing next to a pretty unique plant pot, Cardi posed regally (which, given she’s basically fashion royalty these days, should come as no surprise) in Demna’s innovative neo-tailored, yellow check coat, matching sock boots, and a bright turquoise Hermès Birkin (no big deal), captioning her post ‘BALENCIAGA MAMA’.

The look was first seen as part of the Georgian designer’s AW18 show in Paris back in February, as models made their way around a graffiti-covered ‘mountain’ wearing fake boy band tees and XXL outerwear, as well as futuristic tailored jackets and dresses. Each one was crafted from a single piece of fabric which had been digitally fitted on models whose bodies had been 3D-scanned (so far, so technical) before velvet, wool, and cotton was bonded to it to create the final garment. The technique was further explored in September, when Gvasalia sent more of his future workwear down the runway for SS19.

So what’s next for Cardi? There are still 34 days left of the year of our Lord 2018 and, not to be ungrateful, but we’re hoping for more, more, more. The heavily-memed Joey from Friends look maybe? Or the Comic Sans and Clip Art-emblazoned dress that closed the SS19 show? Watch this space (or at least Cardi’s Instagram).
