There’s a Vivienne Westwood and Burberry collaboration coming

The British label’s new chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci revealed the news via Instagram

Riccardo Tisci is yet to present his debut collection for Burberry – his first collection will show during LFW in September – but he’s already making waves at the British house, today announcing that he will be collaborating with design icon Dame Vivienne Westwood

Posting about the collaboration on his Instagram account, the designer said: “Vivienne was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer... I am SO honoured to announce a new Burbs collaboration with the original British PUNK.” Tisci has been open previously to working with designers who inspire him, enlisting Donatella Versace to front Givenchy’s AW15 campaign

There are currently few details about what the collection will consist of, but a post on Westwood’s account revealed that the collection will feature reworked pieces from the designer’s archive. “She is a rebel, a punk and unrivalled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together,” Tisci said. As is expected with the socially conscious designer, the collection will support rainforest charity Cool Earth

While the two British houses have never collaborated before, last year Burberry enlisted Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy to create a collection reworking the label’s iconic check. For now, fans of both designers will have a while to wait as the collection won’t be released until December, but Tisci’s eagerly awaited Burberry debut is something to look forward to.
