We’ve seen them front campaigns at Loewe (Josh, Maggie, Taylor) at Dior (Greta, Mikey, Mia) and at the brand that started it all, JW Anderson. While, in general, the latter has always been a little less starry than Loewe and Dior, J Dubs does sporadically enlist some well known faces for the campaigns. Charli xcx has done it twice, appearing in ads for both the Bumper and Corner bags; Luca Guadagnino, Joe Alwyn and Ben Whishaw were recently enlisted for Resort 2026; and now, Anderson has bagged cult acting icon John Malkovich for the latest JW Anderson campaign. Released this morning (October 24) as part of the Loafer bag campaign, the new images are shot by Finnish photographer Heikki Kassi, a frequent collaborator of Anderson’s at JW and Loewe. In a pared-back, domestic setting, Malkovich lounges on the floor with one shoe off, inspecting his bedazzled camouflage boot, and also poses inconspicuously with the Loafer bag slung over his shoulder. In other images, he has a face-off with a potted plant, relaxes on a chaise lounge, wraps up warm in a large coat, and waves his fluorescent scarf in the air like a toddler. The pieces worn throughout are from the brand’s Resort 2026 collection, launched earlier this season, and the campaign also marks the first time that Malkovich and Anderson have collaborated together on a project. 2025 has seen JW Anderson undergo somewhat of a restructuring after Anderson’s Dior residency was announced. Back in July, the London-based brand announced that they would be putting an indefinite pause on seasonal runway shows, rebranding with a heavier focus on lifestyle items and a slower approach to fashion collections. “When we feel like there needs to be a show, we will do a show,” Anderson told WWD. “It could be in a year or two, or in three months. But only when I feel like there is something to say within my own brand.” The brand soon followed that announcement with a mammoth 125-page lookbook for Resort 2026 starring Alwyn and co, with the collection featuring new pieces, as well classic staples from the JW archive.
