Rei Kawakubo has announced that she will be adding another line to her group. “Nobody knows yet, but what I can tell you is it’s going to be Internet-based,” the company’s CEO Adrian Joffe told WWD. The new line would take the total of brands under the Comme des Garçons umbrella up to 18 – bonus points if you can name all of them – among them Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, Comme des Garçons Shirt, and Noir Kei Ninomiya. In addition to the collection itself, Joffe also shared that Kawakubo will be creatively involved in the website for the label. Little else is currently known, other than the fact it will be for both men and women and will be available exclusively online at first, to be later sold in six stores. Needless to say with Kawakubo involved, it will be amazing. Did you not see the Met exhibition dedicated to her legacy last year? Watch this space for more.
