As the city and its locals attempted to carry on as usual, one man was there to capture the compelling moments when the two worlds collided. Unlike many of the other photographers, Yu Fujiwara always seeks out the alternative aspects of fashion week – the moments where the chaos of the high-fashion circus intersects with the normal, everyday life on the streets. “There were some interesting people at the Fashion Week venues,” said the photographer. “But I also liked the non-Fashion Week people, like the locals. But turning away from the spectacle of the shows, he focused on the features of Milan – a dismantled traffic sign, a curious and inexplicable display of ceramic dogs in a hairdresser’s window, a Fendi branded manhole cover, and the bemused passer-by who’s accidentally wandered into the fray.
