Kick-starting LFW yesterday was Richard Malone, who presented a sustainable collection inspired by market stalls in towns like Wexford – where he was born. To emphasise the idea, Malone invited God Colony to produce the show’s soundtrack. If you aren’t familiar (you should be), the South London-based producer duo’s track “Turn My G Down” appeared in Versus campaign video and they count Björk among their fans. How better to convey his idea than to mix together the sound of a woman overheard at Wexford Market talking about her beauty, with the bop that is Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money”? As for the clothes themselves, they featured Malone’s signature stripes in bright colours, appearing on long knit dresses and jumpsuits. Elsewhere, he distressed a number of looks, resulting in extra-long fringing, and mismatched bold gingham and houndstooth prints.
