Both with individual style, and a unique eclectic look,” says Temperley of the fierce duo, who encapsulate the free-spirited vision of the brand. It’s been 15 years since Temperley first brought unabashed romanticism to a scene stuck on minimalism, and it’s a spirit sourced in fictional worlds as much as real women. “I love the idea of fantasy, myths and legends,” she says. As Temperley explains, her collections are stories created from a mix of inspirations, and “never set into one era alone”, though she admits her own brand of “‘modern bohemia’ will always reference 1970s a little”. This season, with disco ball sequins and louche velvet jumpsuits, it’s as if the Temperley London girl has shimmied out of the belle époque and into Studio 54. Birkin and Jagger would be proud.
