Fashion / NewsAntonio Banderas is now a fashion student at CSMAlready in his second week slashing fabric, the Mask of Zorro actor is turning his hand to fashion designShareLink copied ✔️August 26, 2015FashionNewsText Trey Taylor You may know him from films like The Mask of Zorro and Donkey’s Christmas Shrektacular, but legendary actor Antonio Banderas has something of a side hobby. The actor is turning his hand to fashion design, keen to get beyond the velvet ropes of high fashion. And he’s not doing too bad. Banderas has already accomplished a feat that evaded even Kanye: receiving an acceptance letter from the world’s best fashion school, Central Saint Martins. Two weeks in and he’s already patternmaking and Pinteresting on a course at the university that has churned out such esteemed alum as Alexander McQueen and Christopher Kane. “The 2nd week of studies at Central St Martin begins,” he shared in a post on his social media, accompanied with the hashtag #instafashion. “Intense, exciting, serious and fun all the same time.” Trading in the mask of Zorro for the mask of Margiela seems a bit unorthodox. What was the reason behind his career change? “It’s something that has been on my mind for a long time,” he explained of his move on chat show Loose Women. “(Central Saint Martins is) probably one of the best schools in the world ... and so I am going to start studying with them. It makes me feel actually very young to put the elbows on the table again and try to understand another reality. Of course, I won’t stop my professional life, I’ll continue acting, directing, but this is a new thing.” Only time will tell what his university studies will yield, but much like his swordplay, we’re expecting his experimental designs to be a cut above.
