Fashion East is the closest thing you get to a crystal ball in this industry. Its lineups are pretty much spot-on indicators of the next generation of London's rising stars – past alums have included Craig Green, Astrid Andersen, Christopher Shannon and more. Last year saw Irish rapper and Dazed favourite Rejjie Snow rip up the fashion show format with his live soundtrack to the presentation.
So who's next to join Lulu Kennedy's incubator of design talent for AW15? Central Saint Martins graduate Grace Wales Bonner is the latest newcomer to the group exhibition. The Jamaican-British designer's graduate collection impressed with her jewel-encrusted reinterpretation of the classic Chanel bouclé suit, bagging the L’Oreal Professionnel Designer of the Year prize in the process.
"There are so many aspects of culture that are not properly documented, so I think there is limitless potential to explore," she told us after walking away with the award. "Even in referencing something that already exists you can still create something new."
Jewellery and accessories designers Alan Crocetti and Roxanne Farahmand have also landed spots, along with textile whiz and Louis Vuitton consultant Edward Crutchley. Fashion East regular Shaun Samson returns with his own salon show on January 10. Finally – fresh from their triumph at the British Fashion Awards (they nabbed the Best Emerging Womenswear prize) – Marques'Almeida round off the group.
