Fashion / NewsNicolas Ghesquière wants to launch his own house some day‘I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to do it.’ShareLink copied ✔️November 7, 2014FashionNewsTextZing TsjengLouis Vuitton SS15 When Nicolas Ghesquière left Balenciaga in 2012, the rumour mill went into overdrive about his next move. One of the top theories? That the designer's shock departure was paving the way for him to start a line under his own name. Well, we all know how that turned out: LVMH snapped him up to fill the Marc Jacobs-sized hole at Louis Vuitton. As it turns out, Ghesquière still has dreams of launching his own house. "I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to do it,” he told WSJ Magazine. "I would like to do it, but each thing in its time. Today I dedicate myself to Louis Vuitton without forgetting that I have wishes, desires." You're going to have to wait a while to see what a Ghesquière label looks like; he says that he has zero interest in trying to run two houses at the same time. Nor does he have ambitions of replicating his artistic reign at Vuitton – no matter how successful it's been. "If it’s to reproduce on a smaller scale what is done on a large scale, honestly, no, it’s not interesting," he says. "And that’s not at all the way that I one day envisage launching myself, especially having experienced the biggest existing model." When the time comes to launch his own house, we're sure he'll be more than well-equipped to handle it. What do you think Nicolas Ghesquière by Nicolas Ghesquière will look like?
