His collaboration with Barbour is no exception – on a trip to the brand’s factory and archives (“a treasure trove of historical pieces and rare one-offs”) it was the anecdote of how a cut up version of Barbour’s motorcycle suit became standard issue for WW2 submariners that got him thinking. Seen here in an exclusive film, the resultant collection mixes maritime references with the brand’s heritage, combining Raeburn’s signature military influences with Barbour's famous tartan and waxed fabrics. Eschewing the clarity of digital for the richness of film (“it makes such a huge difference and handled the natural light within the boat beautifully,” says director Joe Alexander) the video by Forever Pictures presents the collection on a young heroine – in possession of that adventurous spirit so key to Raeburn’s design ethos – as she explores an atmospheric docklands setting. The collection is available now.
