The bleached-blond singer, an inspiration for Slimane’s SS13 LA grunge collection, is one-half of hypnotic rock duo Starred, who release their debut LP, Fall Into Light, this spring. Their songs are about “real shit”: slow-burn beauties that ring out like the warm hum following a guitar’s last strum. As Saint Laurent re-opens its newly refurbished London store with vintage modernist furnishings by the likes of Jacques Adnet, René Herbst and Marcel Breuer, Thorn explains why her obsession with Slimane borders on the fanatical. Saint Laurent AW14 GOOD VIBRATIONS “Saint Laurent clothes are like listening to Led Zeppelin – really fucking loud. It’s nasty, it’s rock’n’roll. What the fuck else could it be? Hedi’s music and photography have defined his vision for Saint Laurent. He’s so good with detail; the details make the fucking thing. And to anyone who isn’t making controversial art, it’s like, ‘What the fuck are you doing?’” PARIS CALLING “Hedi used our song ‘Call from Paris’ on Saint Laurent’s new website when it launched, so I flew out to see his first show. You know how when you buy a concert ticket the shitty seats are ‘GA’? My ticket happened to say ‘GA’ and I was like, ‘Fuck man, I came all the way over here!’ But it was front row! His shows are like going to a rock show.” LONG LIVE ST SLIMANE “I was living in an apartment in LA and Hedi came over to photograph me. He reminds me more of somebody in a band as opposed to a ‘fashion person’. He’s just really fucking generous and so laidback.” Expand your creative community and connect with 15,000 creatives from around the world.READ MORESilver Arrows: Fusing fashion with film noirSo you want to get your hands on Leigh Bowery’s merkin?‘Westwood and Kawakubo are provocateurs’: Inside their powerful new exhibitA look back on Loli Bahia’s best fashion moments Sunrise Angel: Loli Bahia steps out of the shadowsIrish designer Robyn Lynch is riding the ‘green wave’ her own wayDario Vitale has left Versace after 8 monthsThe 2025 Christmas archetype gift guideThe 2025 archetype gift guide: The Whimsical IngénueThe 2025 archetype gift guide: The Etsy WitchThe 2025 archetype gift guide: The Aura FarmerThe 2025 archetype gift guide: The IYKYK Fashion Girl
