Stand out looks: Holographic python coats in metallic lilacs and raspberry reds, worn over baby pink chiffon dresses and with chunky cyber moon boots. The veiled women: Were they mourning or were they getting married? “No! Neither married, nor mourning, not married to a man anyway,” explains Edward Meadham. “I just like a veil.” Atmosphere: “It’s easy to fall into the trap of knowing your going to be showing at the Turbine Hall and wanting to do something monumental,” explained Ben Kirchhoff. Instead, the duo filled the show space with gold streamer curtains, red hearts and the word ‘tralala’ spelt out in purple ribbon – the title of their new fragrance (made in collaboration with Penhaligons) which permeated through the Tate. Possibly the best quote we’ve heard all week: “This is the first collection that I wasn’t sad, or angry, or wanted to stab my eyes out!” – Edward Meadham.
