Rebel Without a Cause, West Side Story and Grease are namechecked but it's John Waters' Cry Baby, and its actors Johnny Depp and Traci Lords, that are the main catalyst. Enter Yaz's fictional bad-boy Johnny Beware, a heartbreaker for whom girls fall at his feet. From lovers and intellectuals to tough girls and melancholic heroines, this collection is about the women in a catfight over him! Plexiglass recurrs throughout the boldly-coloured collection and the idea of silhouette is worked too, from the girls' heads to trompe l'oeil bustiers.
