Taking inspiration from old-school party lines, the “1-888-FOLX-FAM” hotline features encouraging words from a range of activists, artists, and influencers. Among those taking part are model and trans rights activist Laith Ashley, model, activist, and author Munroe Bergdorf, and RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Gigi Goode. Also lending their voices to the hotline project are Patia Borja (of Patia’s Fantasy World), Jillian Mercado, Isis King, iO Tillett Wright, Love Bailey, Yves Mathieu, Miss Jay Alexander, and more, alongside FOLX staff and clinicians. As well as messages of encouragement from the hotline itself, the project’s website features letters written by those involved, addressed to their younger selves. Users are also encouraged to write or record their own messages, to be featured on the hotline or FOLX’s social media. Call 1-888-FOLX-FAM, or get more information on the hotline (and read letters from LGBTQ+ artists and activists) here. Escape the algorithm!
