Literally everyone is bleaching their hair blonde right now

From Kylie to Kaia, this summer the trend is full makeover

During the last few months of lockdown, a true spirit of DIY has swept over us as we’ve been forced to get crafty in the absence of access to professionals. From sourdough loaves to knitting, our talents have run the gamut, and then, of course, there was experimenting with our hair.

There’s been buzzcuts and mullets, home-cut isolation fringes à la Bella Hadid and Rosalía, and many, many home dye jobs. Pink was an initial favourite although orange quickly took over as the hue du jour as Kristen Stewart rocked a bright, almost neon pumpkin orange while Dua Lipa opted for a slightly more subdued, pastel peach.

Two-toned styles then became popular for those feeling even more daring – or indecisive. Actress Ruby Rose debuted a pink and blue dye job, having shaved off all her hair a few weeks prior while Georgia May Jagger went for a half and half turquoise-lilac style.

Now, as many countries are beginning to ease lockdown measures, people are ditching the rainbow colours and going for a full-on bleach makeover. Kaia Gerber – who previously told Dazed Beauty she had given herself DIY highlights at home – debuted a full head of blonde hair this week as has Emily Ratajkowski who collaborated with Kerastase for her new do. Kylie Jenner who’s been rocking a very 90s chunky highlight situation in quarantine showed off her peroxide hair on Instagram last night.

Meanwhile, Lana del Rey also went back to her blonde roots. The singer previously shared a picture of her blonde roots in lockdown, saying she had no choice but to go back to her natural hair colour in the absence of her stylists and with the help of some lemons. Now the transformation is complete as she showed off fully blonde locks.
