There’s the neon-lit dive bar, there’s surfing in Malibu, there’s the PCH. Lana Del ReyPhotography Pamela Cochrane We also see Lana rocking some pretty great (and somewhat unexpected) beauty looks including a neon-winged eye (“did i expect Lana to wear neon eyeliner? no. does it look amazing? yes.” one fan commented on the video). These looks come courtesy of Lana’s longtime make-up artist Pamela Cochrane who has worked with the singer to create some of her most memorable looks on everything from album covers and Met Gala red carpets to magazine editorials including her Dazed cover shoot. The inspiration for the neon flick, Pamela says, came from the song lyrics themselves. “I wanted to add a twist to Lana’s classic eyeliner look and felt inspired by the words to her song ‘I like to see everything in neon, drink lime green, stay up til dawn’ and the neon lights in the dive bar!” she told us. “So we added some neon green liner to a black line and teamed it with a pinky coral lip to keep it summery and fresh.” For the other make-up looks, it was business as usual – albeit slightly more magnified. “In the dreamy surf shots with the surfer guy we were looking for a more exaggerated make-up and hair look, inspired by 60s surf movies, keeping it classic Hollywood but a little more exaggerated and fun on the eye,” says Pamela. “Fuck It I Love You & The Greatest” To achieve the winged neon look, Pamela used Kryolan Aquacolors mixed with Ben Nye Liquiset to create the green liner and Illamasqua Precision Gel Eyeliner for the black. YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils in high density black and Ardell lashes were used to produce Lana’s full lashes, while the pink lip came courtesy of Sephora’s Fresh Melon lip liner pencil. Meanwhile, the exaggerated Hollywood eye was achieved with white eyeshadow from Inglot, the same Illamasqua gel liner and a YSL Couture Kajal eye pencil.
