From Ariana Grande and Tom Brady to Obama, Martin Luther King and the Queen, numerous public figures have been given the wave treatment, with people photoshopping the hairstyle and AirPods onto their faces. The meme was then picked up by @PORNIN4k who put a fresh wave...on the wave, and accompanied it with lyrics from Lil Baby and Gunna’s “Drip Too Hard” which contains lyrics about...waves. Drip too hard don’t stand to close u gon fuck around and drown offf these waves pic.twitter.com/jsgP6Y3pYk— LEJON BRAMES (@PORNIN4k) January 20, 2019 The meme has since been retweeted 53,000 times. We caught up with @PORNIN4k, real name Delio, to find out more. Why did you decide to make the meme?Delio: I actually found the image like that and just added the caption. It’s been an ongoing joke on the internet, I didn’t expect for the tweet to reach as many people as it did. Once the internet gets a hold of something it blows it up. Do you think there's been a renaissance in terms of the 'wave' as a hairstyle?Delio: I don’t think it’s a renaissance necessarily because it’s a hairstyle that never really went out of style in my community. Have you ever styled your own hair like that?Delio: I have, I’ve spent hours of my day brushing my hair and wearing du-rags to sleep. I’m Hispanic and my hair is naturally curly so it’s not much of a hassle to get the waves. It’s mostly keeping them nice and fresh. I would do it again just because I like the prestige of it. It looks clean and I feel like it’s flex, it’s like a statement of saying ‘look at me, I’m fresh as hell.’ Do you think it's stylish?Delio: I do think it’s stylish and unique for the simple fact that not everyone can get this hairstyle, it’s only for people with hair that can actually curl up. It’s the one thing white people can't steal because their hair can’t buss!
