At 26-years-old, Nico Castro is a leading light in Santiago’s music scene working across magazines, radio, DJing, throwing select parties and founding his hugely popular culture blog, NNM aka No Nací en Manchester. He is the Santiago City Editor of Satellite Voices, our new cultural platform created by independent editors across the globe, exploring the creative cultural revolutions in these unique cities that deserve the world’s attention. Dazed Digital: Where do you live and work?
Nico Castro: I live in Providencia, which is a neighborhood located very close to downtown Santiago. I work a lot from home and am very lucky to live just a couple of blocks away from the radio station Horizonte, where I also work.

DD: What inspires you about the area that you live and work in?
Nico Castro: Providencia has got the right mixture between old and new, loud and quiet, chill and fun. I'm within walking distance from every place where I could possibly be interested in going. And what I personally enjoy the most is that you still get the feeling that you share a hood with the rest of the people living here. This is something that's almost lost in other places in Santiago.

DD: What is your favourite hidden city spot and why?
Nico Castro: There are very few decent record stores in Santiago, so whenever I have time (and money) I go to this small store called Sonar. It's amazing how these guys keep up to date with the newest releases and classic vinyl.

DD: What can you find in your city that you can’t get anywhere else?
Nico Castro: Lately, Santiago has this exciting feeling that everything is falling right into place. I believe that, other than the big cities, there are very few other places with the same projection as Santiago. And for me, being 26-years-old and getting involved during this specific moment feels thrilling.

DD: How would you describe your personal style with your work?
Nico Castro: I put my whole heart into this. There's not a single minute in which I'm not grateful for being able to work in what I love the most.

DD: What projects are you working on at the moment and what’s next?
Nico Castro: I'm about to start my own radio show next month, that’s been a childhood dream. I'm also pushing my blog and keep DJing as much as my body allows me to...
