The New York artist, who is known for his super-scale nude photo shoots, is currently on the look-out for 100 women to pose naked at the event on July 17. According to information on his website, participants will need to hold “large mirror discs” at sunrise, in a bid to “reflect the knowledge and wisdom of progressive women” onto the convention centre. “By holding mirrors, we hope to suggest that women are a reflection and embodiment of nature, the sun, the sky and the land,” he explains on his website. “We want to express the belief that we will rely upon the strength, intuition and wisdom of progressive and enlightened women to find our place in nature and to regain the balance within it. The mirrors communicate that we are a reflection of ourselves, each other, and of, the world that surrounds us.” For our daughters,I just couldn't stand by and do nothing. https://t.co/dAR5OA3G7Bpic.twitter.com/IPe6hrP23d— Spencer Tunick (@SpencerTunick) May 11, 2016 In an interview with Cleveland Scene, Tunick revealed that the project was inspired by the 2007 film Chicago 8; which followed the exploits of activists at 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. However, he was quick to stress that this performance would not necessarily be an act of protest. “I want it to be a work that women can be part of,” he said. “Maybe to heighten the idea that women will decide the outcome of this election and will have a more powerful presence in the future of politics, the future of the country, and the future of the world. It's not so much a protest but an action, a wake-up call to the absurdity of politics and discrimination.” "(I want it to) energize the city,” he added. “To heat it up, and this ray of light bringing knowledge and helping maybe to tone down the rhetoric of hate and prejudice against women preceding the convention.” If you’d like Donald Trump to see your boobs, fill out the application form on Tunick’s official site here.
