Arts+CultureNewsWhat to expect from the new X-FilesMulder and Scully are back in this newly released clip, and we're ready to believeShareLink copied ✔️July 17, 2015Arts+CultureNewsTextHayley Morgan Believe and you will receive. It's been 13 years since we last saw FBI agents Mulder and Scully, but The X-Files reboot is a real thing happening in 2016, and Fox just released the most extensive footage from the new season so far. Albeit only 15 seconds long, but the hype is real, and we're excited to see these 90s alien ass-kicking icons slotting right into the modern world. Not to worry though, there's definitely been no loss on the body pile-up or freaky extra-terrestrial activity during the hiatus. Here's what we know. THE SEASON IS A MINISERIES, PICKING UP WHERE 2002 ENDED Debuting January 24, 2016, The X-Files will run as a six-episode miniseries. A bit of a wait, but that means resident Scully-worshippers and newbie fans alike can take time to watch all the classic episodes from 1993 – 2002. The miniseries is a continuation of the 90s fave, and aliens and sexual tension are still a priority. THE ORIGINAL CAST RETURN David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are in their original roles. Phewf. Gillian even copped a fresh dye job, which she posted on Twitter when filming began in June 2014. The teaser trailer shows the duo doing what they do best, scoping out a mystery location, ready to fire. We can't wait to see how their explosive relationship develops in 2016. Since The X-Files last went off air, Duchovny has starred in Californication and the 2008 X-Files: I Want to Believe reboot alongside Gillian Anderson. She's been busy upping her game as the queen of the thriller with roles in Hannibal and The Fall. The creator of the show Chris Carter is also back, as well as several original writers, Mitch Pileggi is back as Skinner and William B. Davis as the Cigarette-Smoking Man. It seems like a great big reunion, with only Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, who wrote and produced for the show, missing out. 👽 💋 pic.twitter.com/pORr3xrg31— Gillian Anderson (@GillianA) June 6, 2015 THERE WILL BE BLOOD We can see blood trails in the teaser, and a leaked call sheet suggests "possible flash backs or memories of: sharp medical tools pressed into men, women and children, a clean shaven doctor (played by Giacomo Baessato) inoculating abductees with alien blood, Sveta on a table screaming as a foetus was lifted and a dead alien full of bullets". The character Sveta is played by Annet Mahendru, best known for her role in The Americans. We're dying to see how the bloody detail will be stepped up. A still from the latest X-Files clipFox Broadcasting PROBING We have confirmation that a ten-prong probing instrument exists. Is that vial full of alien blood? Who is using it? Who is it being used on? Let's hope we see Scully in action with the same grotesque autopsies this series. For now, only time will tell. The clip also shows some military intervention and a possible plane crash, so we'll just have to wait and see who – or what – is really involved in the sticking and poking. A freaky looking probe shown in the teaserFox Broadcasting 'I WANT TO BELIEVE' POSTERS ARE STILL COOL Or maybe not? The symbolism of an unidentified character walking on one is confusing (also offensive). But the point is, they exist. It's the poster emblazoned on the back of every X-Files diehard's retina, as it sits above Mulder's office desk. Has he relocated? It's probably one of the most reproduced show merch ever too. We want to believe tooFox Broadcasting NINETIES LEISUREWEAR IS OUT The crucial styling of the original series no longer exists. But hey, if Mulder and Scully turned up in 2016 wearing ill-fitting suits it'd look like a Margiela collaboration. They're anti-style heroes really. Not a bad thing, but also not a Fox Broadcasting thing. In the teaser, it doesn't look like Mulder and Scully have aged at all. Gillian Anderson as Dana ScullyFox Broadcasting
