It’s a historic moment for the country, one that campaigners have been waiting for a long time. This ruling says that the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees that gays and lesbians must have the same right to marry as heterosexuals. Justice Anthony Kennedy said, “No union is more profound than marriage for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family".
