Kanye renting Raf Simons, exploding meth motels in America, a Blockbuster training video – here’s a round-up of the Dazed team’s picks of the week
A CONVERSATION WITH DAVID CASAVANT, FOREMOST RAF SIMONS COLLECTOR AND ARCHIVIST
“You know that vintage camo Raf Simons Kanye keeps popping up in? It’s rented. Ye, Rihanna and friends hire rare Raf Simons and Helmut Lang pieces from collector David Casavant. This guy has a wardrobe I desperately want to bury my face in, and weep softly. He’s also only 24, and started collecting pieces when he was a teenager. (Someone spent their pocket money wisely.) Casavant tips London designers Craig Green and Grace Wales Bonner as the newbies to start collecting now, which I can totally get behind.” – Natasha Slee, Social Media Assistant (@TashaLouiseS)

AMERICA'S MOTELS KEEP EXPLODING BECAUSE OF METH
“I’ve never done meth, but in the dismal afterlife that is the post-Breaking Bad apocalypse, I’m keen to keep it in my life somehow. This piece takes a look at exploding motels in America that are going up in flames because of wired meth cooks and their malpractice. This story’s got sex, drugs and explosions, that remarkable entertainment triumvirate.” – Thomas Gorton, News Writer (@AngstromHoot)

BLOCKBUSTER TRAINING VIDEO (1990)
“Trawling through the aisles of Blockbuster used to be my hobby when people asked what hobbies I had, because I had no hobbies (sobby hobby story). Watching this better-than-good Blockbuster training video – where guests complain about broken VCRs (why are they renting a movie in the first place?? Your VCR doesn’t work, dummy) and a magic man on a floating TV screen coaches the clumsy fuck in Blockbuster’s employ – is the closest I’ll get to ever visiting a video store again and getting that weekly rush fighting over that last copy of Braveheart with some old, fat dude.” – Trey Taylor, Film Editor (@treytylor)
“I don't usually make a habit out of reading thousand-word personal essays on One Direction and motherhood, but this is definitely an exception. It will make you feel things about 1D that you never thought possible (and I am saying this as someone who once considered setting up a shrine to Zayn in the office as a joke). Also, bonus cameo from Patti Smith!” – Zing Tsjeng, News Editor (@misszing)

GOING TO WESTFIELD WITH THE ARCHBISHOP OF BANTERBURY
“The election is done. Just wondering, on reading this classic Buzzfeed article, who is really going to speak to the Cheeky Nando's Lad demographic come 2020.” – Charlie Robin Jones, Digital Editor (@charliexjones)

NAVY SEALS
“Last week Russia celebrated the 70th anniversary of Nazi Germany’s defeat with a massive Victory Day parade. Unable to attend were two very patriotic Baikal seals who most probably would have loved to be part of the actual parade celebrating the motherland. Maybe next year guys..” – Camilla Mathis, Production Coordinator (@camillamathis)
“This is essentially a big essay on cancer – and we all know that there's nothing quite like a bit of cancer to get you hyped for the weekend, am I right?? LOL... Completely shit jokes aside, it's actually a really beautiful and moving piece of writing – writer Matthew Teague looks back on his wife's death and remembers the friend that stood by him. It's a true tale of a real bromance, and by far the best thing I've seen on the web this week. (Aside from those navy seals that Camilla picked.... those navy seals are the best things I've ever seen EVER! I love all marine animals!)” – Dominique Sisley, Editorial Assistant (@dominiquesisley)

“So I saw this on the web a while ago. It's a website (and now a mobile app) for Sugar Daddy and Sugar Mummy dating. I read an article where a lot of uni students are using the app to help fund university. Seeking Arrangement is the main one that people used. You find a sugar daddy and you get taken out and bought expensive things (escort-esque) and you don't have to be intimate unless you choose to be... I was quite shocked because there were stats that showed which Universities around the UK use it the most and the University of Cambridge comes in at top!” – Sarah Sweeting, Editorial Intern (@sarahsweeting)

FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA TUSKAGEE UNIVERSITY COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS
“Do you like successful women? Successful women who give uplifting speeches? Successful women who give uplifting speeches that are achingly close to the bone?If yes, then I recommend watching this eloquent and candid address to the graduates of Tuskegee University given by Michelle ‘Move Over Hillary’ Obama which makes some people uncomfortable and inspires a whole lot more.” – Lila Hamilton, Designer (@LilaHamilton)
“It’s pretty self explanatory, but this Tumblr pointing out the overwhelming maleness of the world’s panels is both sad and hilarious in equal measure. I’m not sure why they’ve chosen David Hasselhoff as their mascot, but I’m digging it.” – Emma Hope Allwood, Fashion Features Writer (@emmahopeall)
