The rapper dropped the politically charged video for “Borders” last November, shared a sneak preview of “Boom AD” in February, and dropped “Temple” and “Foreign Friend” back in March. Despite that, M.I.A. – real name Mathangi Arulpragasam – has remained relatively quiet on the record’s actual release date. Until now. In a series of cryptic tweets, the rapper announced that her “last LP” Matahdatah was officially done – and that it was “up to the label” whether it would ever be released. Apparently, she has been suffering from visa troubles, leaving her unable to promote or tour the record. “I am handing my last LP in to my American label this week,” she announced. “I don’t have visa 4 states to promote or spk! (sic)” She also took the opportunity to continue her criticism of America’s attitude to foreign issues, adding: “(The) US can pretty much destroy the world and people in US be like, well didn’t happen here so it didn’t happen.” See all the tweets below: I am handing my last LP in to my American label this week.
