If they come after you…” His voice soon fades out to make way for the clattering beats and bars of the track, where she raps, “brown girl, brown girl, turn your shit down, you know America don’t wanna hear your sound, boom boom jungle music go back to India.” The track then warps into a previously unheard version, where M.I.A. gets political about Apple, immigration, racism, social media and religion. The new track comes almost four years after the NFL filed a (pretty ludicrous) lawsuit against M.I.A. for sticking up her middle finger during the 2012 Super Bowl halftime show. At the time, the NFL demanded $16.6 million from the musician, based on their estimation of what advertisers would have paid during M.I.A.’s performance, as well as the estimated value of the exposure that she got for appearing during the show.
