In that case, enter: Cindy Sherman emoji]. New York-based designer Hyo Hong has come up with Cindy Sherman-Icon, which allows you to insert one of the many faces of the photographer into your text messages. Do you feel kind of "bloated 50s housewife on the verge of murder" today? Well, now there's an emoji for you. "We don’t always want to convey that we’re blindly happy, crying with laughter or horizontally-lipped and nonplussed," Hyo told Hyperallergic. "Sometimes, we need something a little more subtle and nuanced from emoticons. So, I have come up with just the solution, in the form of the multifaceted Cindy Sherman-icon." The 20 emoji are cropped from classic Sherman portrait series such as Untitled Film Stills and Society Portraits. Actually deploying them is slightly clunky: you have to download the Cindy Sherman-icons individually and post them into text messages like a regular image. But the chance to use the hapless yet unimpressed office assistant emoji in response to your friend telling you that she couldn't get you guestlist for the club this weekend? Priceless.
