It's 2014: everyone loves sexting and everyone loves emojis, right? So it was only a matter of time before someone made Flirtmoji, an app that allows you to send explicit sex-themed emoji to your text message beau.

Forget the eggplant emoji, every shade of sexual kink is depicted here – including ones to symbolise squirting, ball gags, swinging, strap-ons and a few more we can't even decipher. Created by four artists and designers from California, Flirtmoji also contains a pleasingly diverse spread of ethnicities and body shapes. You can choose from five categories: Teen Dream, Toyland, Fetish 101, Hotel Suite, Party Time and BDSM. 

"My friends and I are not accurately represented in emoji, and it’s frustrating," artist Katy McCarthy told the Verge. "And particularly with sex, we felt that it was so crucial that everyone feel sexually represented. To pass our test, the drawings have to be sex-positive. Anyone has to be able to look at them and not feel offended".

The designers add on their blog: "Humans have always been sexual creatures, and now we’re sexual creatures with cell phones and wi-fi connections and we’re taking advantage of it. We are sexting. We are sending pictures of our cocks and pussies and naked bodies to each other. We’re watching, and talking about, porn. Despite all this sexual activity oozing out of our lightning ports and headphone jacks, the app stores for Android and iOS do not permit sexual content."

That's where Flirtmoji comes in: to widen the horizons of sexting and diversify your options beyond the fist plus splashing sweat emoji. The emojis aren't really sexual per se (unless you get turned on by cartoon hard-ons) but it does make kink seem less taboo and forbidden. 

The emojis have been deemed too explicit for the Apple store, so head to the Flirtmoji website to download 15 for $0.99.
