I’d stage a fashion show with disabled models, with fabulous fashion, great hair & makeup artists and guest speakers

Maybe it was that Essex knack for arm-twisting, or just bucket-loads of confidence, but in 2019 at the tender age of 15, Ellie Goldstein rocked up to London’s Zebedee Model Management, announcing that she’d like to join their roster. Bold, perhaps. But for this performing arts student, the limelight had long been calling.

Fast forward three years and Goldstein was fronting beauty campaigns for Gucci, making history in the process. “It was overwhelming but exciting and fantastic,” she says of being the first model with Down’s syndrome to ever step in front of the camera for a luxury fashion house. “I was really proud of myself.” Since, along with a smattering of magazine covers and international accolades, Goldstein’s CV reads like a who’s who of the British high street. And so it should. “We can achieve anything we desire, the same as anybody else,” Goldstein adds, “I want to inspire others with hidden or visible disabilities.”

Revelling in her newfound position as a role model, Goldstein now wants to stage her own “spectacular” charity fashion show which will put other disabled models centre stage. “The world needs to see how beautiful and professional we are,” she says. It’s that same drive which took Goldstein to Zebedee’s doors in the first place, only now the axis has shifted, it’s all about “making the world a more inclusive, diverse place to live” for everyone.
