Jordan Peele, Ava DuVernay, and more demand justice for Breonna Taylor

Taylor, a 26-year-old emergency medical technician, was shot and killed in her home by police officers in March

Jordan Peele, Ava DuVernay, Nia DiCosta, and Seth Rogen are among the celebrities calling for the arrest of the three police officers who killed Breonna Taylor in March.

Taylor, a 26-year-old emergency medical technician, was shot and killed in her home by Louisville Metro police officers Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove. Originally dispatched for a drug investigation, the officers entered the wrong house, illegally, and shot Taylor eight times.

“Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor,” became a viral tweet on June 7, two days after what would have been Taylor’s 27th birthday. Originally reposted by Peele, the tweet was shared by the likes of Ava DuVernay, Nia DiCosta, and Olivia Wilde, plus actors like Kumail Nanjiani, Gabrielle Union, and Seth Rogan.

Taylor’s killing has drawn international attention due to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests happening across the world. The #BirthdayForBreonna campaign launched last week to support Taylor’s family and to demand prosecution of the officers involved in her killing. Several stars, including Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Kerry Washington, and Kim Kardashian were among those urging followers to support the campaign. You can donate to Taylor’s fund, here.
