PoliticsNewsWatch Bernie Sanders speak about Cardi B, weed legalisation, and AOCThe Democratic presidential candidate says Cardi ‘has guts’ShareLink copied ✔️November 4, 2019PoliticsNewsTextGünseli Yalcinkaya Following his meet-up with Cardi B in a nail bar business in Detroit, Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has appeared on Showtime’s Desus & Mero to talk about New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC), weed legalisation, and his favourite rapper. When asked about his policies on marijuana, Sanders said: “Under the controlled substance act, marijuana is at the same level as heroin, which is insane. We take it out of that, which legalises marijuana across the country.” He continued to explain that if elected, he will expunge the records of those who’ve been arrested for cannabis-related crimes, before adding: “As we move towards the legalisation of marijuana, I don’t want big corporations profiting. I want people who’ve been hurt the most to benefit. The folks who should be involved in the legal marijuana business will be people of colour.” In the video, Sanders is asked, “how does it feel to have someone from this generation connect with you?” in reference to AOC, to which he responded: “No matter our age, or where we were born, or the colour of our skin, we have an enormous amount in common.” “To see a young woman of 30, the youngest woman ever elected in congress, working alongside me in the fight for justice, tells me we have enormous opportunity to bring people all over this country, which works for all of us, not just the one per cent.” Sanders also spoke about Cardi B, saying: “You got a lot of entertainment stars and a lot of them don’t have the guts to speak out on important issues, Cardi B has, and we’ve had a couple of really long chats about politics and I’m glad she’s supported.” Watch the video below.
