Often with a slightly melancholic edge, Cayzer manages to procure a more melodic take on more typical dubstep sounds. The legendary R&S Records provides the platform for his new EP, after making a triumphant return themselves with more eclectic signings from the likes of Delphic to releasing James Blake’s 'CMYK' EP. Despite their background of more techno artists like Joey Beltram and Derrick May to Aphex Twin, new signing Pariah seems to fit right in with his layered sounds that often place him amongst producers like Pangaea, Untold, or Falty DL. His knack for re-shaping R'n'B samples into deep 2-step wonders has got the likes of the xx and Ellie Goulding hot on his heels for remix duties. WHAT'S…...your worst vice? Definitely smoking. …the story behind your name? I took the name from one of my favourite bands called "Cursed". They were a Canadian hardcore band and on one of their records they had a track called "Pariah". ...your favourite website? Discogs, without a shadow of a doubt. ...your worst fashion secret? I have no fashion secrets... good or bad haha. ...better, analog or digital? I think that they both have their advantages. I don't own any analogue hardware so I can't speak from experience on the production front but when it comes to DJ'ing I use both vinyl and Serato. ...good for breakfast? I never have the appetite when I wake up to eat a proper breakfast. I have to have a cup of coffee, though, or else I can't function for the rest of the day. ...are you listening to now? Forest Swords, Joe, Oneohtrix Point Never, Ramadanman, Elgato. The list goes on. How would you describe your music? I always find this a hard question to answer but I guess the easiest (and perhaps, laziest) way to describe it is electronic music that has an emphasis on melody. Escape the algorithm!
