Where most events are caught in an arms race for the biggest headliners and even bigger stages, over its 12 years of operation, Field Maneuvers has taken the opposite route, remaining committed to the intimate and independent community spirit that sets it apart. It’s in this context that the Dazed 2025 festival select announced its newest lineup today, featuring the prolific, three-time label founder Midland, Hyberdub heavyweight Kode9, and Mexican trailblazer Paurro. True to its community spirit, Field Maneuvers 2025 is also hosting a range of takeovers spotlighting grassroots music scenes from across the country – including East London queer haven Dalston Superstore, Leeds’ storied Cosmic Slop and a special ode to the recently-closed Hackney hidden gem The Gun, which had hosted the likes of DJ Python, Manfredas and Andrew Weatherall during its time. The lineup also marks Field Maneuvers’ escape from near-cancellation last year as they struggled to keep up with the hypercommercialised tides of the UK festival circuit. Speaking to Dazed in the wake of their supposed last edition in August 2024, Field Maneuvers’ founders explained: “Running a small independent festival feels pretty masochistic right now. Over 40 UK festivals didn’t even make it past the start line this summer and we couldn’t see a way forward where we remained true to our anti-corporate ethos.” Fortunately, the team have found a way to make it work. And, with only 1600 tickets on sale this year – exactly the same as last year’s edition – as well as a lineup consisting exclusively of your DJ’s favourite DJs, it seems their anti-corporate ethos is still very much in effect. ”The broader climate outside of the festival world right now seems to be one of division,” Field Maneuvers told Dazed earlier this year. “So, getting together, even if only for a weekend, with people who want to treat each other with love and respect, seems more valuable than ever.” Check out the full lineup below. * Field Maneuvers have now amended their tagline to ‘Now with a few frills’, owing to the procurement of a darts board for their on-site pub.
