After dropping the song of the summer Girl, so confusing remix featuring Lorde, a track that saw the two pop stars publicly squash their beef, there was a belief that Brat’s monumental run was well and truly over. But according to Charli xcx in her most recent interview with Billboard, Brat summer has only just begun.

When asked if there were more remixes on the way, Charli replied with a one-word answer: “Yes.” She revealed nothing more about the upcoming tracks other than the fact that they are coming, and they’re coming soon (most likely). However, she reveals other things in the interview. For example, the Girl, so confusing remix featuring Lorde, one of the most popular songs from her latest album, wasn’t planned.

Before the album was released, Charli contacted Lorde to inform her about the song and ensure she was “OK with that first.” The pair hadn’t seen each other in a while, but when Lorde received Charli’s voice note, she replied straight away. “Oh, my God, I had no idea you felt this way. I’m so sorry,” replied Lorde. “You know, maybe I should be on a version of the song.” After that, the song came together in three days.

Charli also disclosed to Billboard that she is travelling to Poland for three weeks to write a film. Catching herself before she revealed too much, she explained, “Well, I don’t really know if I should say it because I also don’t know if we’re going to do it. We might actually just go to Poland and not do that, but that is the idea.” The film, if it does happen, is going to take place in Poland. “We would write it and shoot it at the same time, kind of like making an album. One of the guys is the director – he works that way all the time.”

The interview ends with a quote by Lorde, essentially explaining that this is Charli’s world, and we’re just living in it. “Charli’s been doing this. She’s been Charli this whole time. She’s just put one foot in front of the other. Learned something from every project. Michelangelo apparently once said, ‘I’m just going to carve away all that is not David,’ and I feel that that’s what we are getting to witness in real-time: Charli saying to herself, ‘I’m going to carve away all that is not Charli.’ It’s very, very big and special, powerful, fun, sick work that she does.” Read the interview in full here.
