FKA twigs has officially released her new song with The Weeknd, as teased on social media earlier this week (December 13). Titled “Tears in the Club”, the track arrives alongside a strobe-filled music video starring the two musicians (and yes, tears are indeed shed on the dancefloor).
“Tears in the Club” follows “Measure of a Man”, the single twigs released with London rapper Central Cee in November, for the soundtrack to the spy film The King’s Man. Earlier this year, she also shared a track with Headie One, “Don’t Judge Me”, which arrived alongside striking visuals about the Black British experience.
The new song, meanwhile, was co-produced by Arca, Cirkut, and El Guincho. All three artists were named among twigs’ recent collaborators when she announced that she’s working on a “deep, emotional, and honest” mixtape earlier this year.
The musician’s last album, the critically-acclaimed MAGDALENE, was released back in 2019. She’s yet to announce a follow-up, though she has dropped hints in a recent Twitter post, writing: “Y’all gonna get what you’ve been wanting from me for bare time.”
“There are levels to this game, and I am levelling up to my best self, cause my best healthy self is my competition always.”
