If The King’s Man is a bid from director Matthew Vaughn to take the helm of the next James Bond project, then the “Measure of a Man” video is its proto Bond theme, complete with floating CGI guns, dreamy strings, and glamorous choreography. There’s more than a touch of similarity between this song and Billie Eilish’s theme for No Time To Die – especially in twigs’ soaring, pitch-bending vocals – but Central Cee’s verse injects “Measure of a Man“ with a different kind of drive and energy. “This song has such a different sound which is a challenge,” twigs said in a press statement of the collaboration. “You’ve got to really embody the song. For me especially with my vocals, I had to pull a different side of my artistry out.” Central Cee, however, found the track a perfect fit, as it was for a film soundtrack: “What I listen to when it comes to trying to find beats is something theatrical, it needs to sound like a movie. And that’s exactly what’s going on with this song, it sounds like it’s made for a movie regardless.” Elsewhere, twigs recently fronted a campaign against domestic and sexual violence, appearing in an animated video for a new initiative, Join The Chorus, which aims to stop and prevent violence against women and girls. She said of the project: “For some, home can be a dangerous place with no escape. But while one voice might go unheard, a chorus cannot be ignored. Together, we can help free those harmed by domestic and sexual violence.” Watch the video for “Measure of a Man“ in full below.
