Sharing the link to the tracks on Twitter this afternoon (August 22), the musician wrote: “Dumping random thoughts.” The tracks themselves are titled “I Hate You”, “Nightbird”, and “Joni”. The latter — a one-and-a-half minute track in which she sings over plucked acoustic guitar — has also arrived on Instagram, alongside visuals directed by SZA and shot by Blair Caldwell. If the thought of a single drop from SZA has you excited, then there’s more good news: the singer herself has hinted that it could become a regular thing. Following the Soundcloud releases, a fan commented: “Can you start SZA Sunday’s (sic) and drop random thoughts once a week?” SZA simply replies: “Yes.” Responding to a question about her much-anticipated song “Shirt”, meanwhile, she teases: “She nex.” This year, SZA has also shared a psychedelic video for her song “Good Days”, alongside contributions to Doja Cat’s Planet Her, James Blake’s upcoming album Friends That Break Your Heart, and more. In lieu of a new studio album — which has been delayed amid complications with her label — SZA has also been keeping up with her fans by texting them daily from her personal phone number, and providing a hotline to use when you need a good cry.
