Rina Sawayama is set to star alongside Keanu Reeves in John Wick 4

Scheduled to arrive in 2022, John Wick: Chapter 4 will mark the musician’s feature film acting debut

Rina Sawayama is set to make her feature film debut (across from Keanu Reeves, no less) in the upcoming action film John Wick: Chapter 4. For now, however, the musician’s specific role is being kept under wraps, with shooting set to begin in France, Germany, and Japan this summer.

“I’m so glad to have Rina on board to make her feature film debut in John Wick: Chapter 4,” says director Chad Stahelski, as reported by Deadline. “She’s an incredible talent who’ll bring so much to the film.”

Keanu Reeves has been playing ruthless assassin John Wick since 2014. John Wick 4 also won’t be the first time that he’s starred across from a famous musician — in 2017, the rapper and actor Common also joined the franchise in the role of antagonist and fellow hitman Cassian.

Sawayama, meanwhile, released a remarkable self-titled debut album, SAWAYAMA, last year, earning herself a place on Dazed’s best albums of 2020 list. Since then, she’s also prompted meaningful changes to UK awards shows (and subsequently bagged a Rising Star nomination at the 2021 BRIT Awards).

John Wick: Chapter 4 is reportedly set to arrive in May 2022, following delays related to Reeves’ commitment to filming the fourth instalment of The Matrix.
