In a Twitter post, the singer performs a short snippet of the track, donning a furry cowboy hat and perching on the bed in a tiny pink bedroom for her upcoming Tiny Desk session. Taken from the 1993 album So Tonight That I Might See, “Fade Into You” is the dream-pop band’s most recognisable song, written by Hope Sandoval and late co-founder David Roback. Characteristically, Cyrus makes the low-key classic her own in the new clip, belting out the lyrics. Of course, Miley Cyrus has already proven herself the queen of cover songs over the course of the pandemic, performing takes on tracks from Billie Eilish, Blondie, the Velvet Underground, the Cranberries, and many more. Not content to stop there, she also has a Metallica cover record on the way, which will bring together a varied cast of collaborators, including Elton John, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Cyrus’s Tiny Desk session is set to take place January 28, at 5pm GMT. The concert will also see the singer perform “Golden G String”, the closing song from last year’s Plastic Hearts.
