Directed by Waller-Bridge, the black-and-white video opens with a ‘beaten-up’ Mescal meeting a dog on the beach. As the clip goes on, the actor steals a car, cleans up his fake scars, and gets robbed by Bridgers herself – who even takes the tiny dog, much to Mescal’s dismay. According to a press release, Bridgers and Waller-Bridge connected over email during coronavirus quarantine, after the musician expressed admiration for the actor and writer’s work. Bridgers and Mescal’s friendship appears to have blossomed after the pair took part in an Instagram Live for Wonderland back in May. Punisher was released to widespread critical acclaim in June, and is Bridgers’ second studio album. You can watch the full video for “Saviour Complex” here, and the trailer below.
