In a more personal nod to his family, he also made reference to the Catholic hymn, “On Eagles’ Wings”, saying: “It captures the faith that sustains me and which I believe sustains America.” Now, Lana Del Rey has taken time out from recording her forthcoming album to share a cover version of the hymn, in celebration of Biden’s victory. “As promised we are getting a headstart on that album of standard folk songs and all things Americana,” the singer wrote in an Instagram post. “But we took a break to watch the Biden speech and he mentioned at the end of it (the) hymn that he hoped gave Americans hope so I thought I would just give a little version of that as we took a break in the studio.” Del Rey was also among the many musicians and celebrities – including Lizzo, Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, and Timothée Chalamet – to congratulate Biden on his victory in the presidential election yesterday, and celebrate Trump being voted out of office. Besides the coming “American standards and classics” record, Del Rey has finished up her next studio album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club, though the release date has been pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. She has also recently shared a version of the Liverpool FC anthem, “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, recorded for a documentary on the football club.
