Lady Gaga hits back at Trump: ‘Glad to be living rent free in your head’

The singer has responded after she was condemned as an ‘anti-fracking activist’ by the president’s election campaign

Just days after declaring that Billie Eilish is “destroying our country and everything we care about”, the Trump administration is coming after Lady Gaga.

The “Stupid Love” singer was referenced in a press release written by Donald Trump’s communication director, Tim Murtaugh, which criticised Joe Biden for working with Gaga. “Nothing exposes Joe Biden’s disdain for the forgotten working men and women of Pennsylvania like campaigning with anti-fracking activist Lady Gaga,” wrote Murtaugh. “This desperate effort to drum up enthusiasm for his lacklustre candidacy is actually a sharp stick in the eye for 600,000 Pennsylvanians who work in the fracking industry.”

He concluded by asserting that Trump “supports and defends American energy workers” and will “make our economy great again,” while Biden “will always prioritise the desires of the liberal Hollywood elite and the radical left”.

Responding on her Instagram Stories, Gaga – who previously expressed support for a 2012 anti-fracking campaign by Yoko Ono – said: “Heeeey Donald… #WINNING (also, what is a fracking?) Keep your jobs PA… We (love) you.”

In a later tweet, the singer directly hit back at Trump, writing: “HEY TIM HEY @realDonaldTrump SO HAPPY IM GLAD TO BE LIVING RENT FREE in your HEAD.”

In recent weeks, Gaga has been vocal about the importance of voting in the upcoming US presidential election, previously writing a song about it, and sharing a video of herself strutting to the ballot box in pink platform boots. Over the weekend (October 31), she shared a voting PSA in which she revisited a number of her most iconic looks (yes, including the meat dress).

Today (November 2), Gaga is set to join Biden at a drive-in rally in the Pennsylvanian city of Pittsburgh. Both the president and his Democratic opponent will visit the state today, as it’s deemed key to winning the election.
