There, she spoke with fans and posed for photos, and even discussed the potential release date of her next album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club (potentially December 10 or January 7, depending on vinyl manufacturing times). However, it was something else that caught more people’s attention in the moment – her choice of face mask. Del Rey announced the secret event during an Instagram Live video moments before it was due to take place, where she could be seen sat at a table ready to sign a stack of books while wearing a mesh face covering that she’d previously used in a cover shoot for Interview. Mesh coverings have been criticised as they do not seem to assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19. After Del Rey shared the images on Instagram, fans commenting asking her to be more responsible. “Please tell me that there's some sort of see through/sheer, woven (or clear plastic?) liner under the mesh? said one fan. “Please wear a real mask. I’m begging you be safe,“ wrote another. According to BBC News, the singer’s sister, Chuck Grant, claimed that Del Rey had “tested negative” for coronavirus before the event, and always remained six feet away from people, yet several photos show fans standing next to and touching Del Rey. Elsewhere, a fan asked if she would include her previously teased song “Dealer” on the album, to which Del Rey said: “Bro, I cannot decide. It’s a screamer… right now it’s tentatively track eight.” Check out photos and video from the event below.
