If you’ve been on the internet recently, you probably already know what “WAP” stands for. The Cardi B track and accompanying video has already been pontificated over by Russell Brand – read Dazed’s critique of the hot take no one asked for – and criticised by Carole Baskin, of all people.
Now, though, it appears Cardi’s collab with Megan Thee Stallion has another new audience, in the shape of… young Donald Trump supporters?
In an objectively awful video posted August 17, the Trump supporters can be seen partying to “WAP” on a boat, at a self-described “Trump 2020 boat party” complete with banners and Maga hats.
Resharing the video via Twitter, Cardi B seems just as confused as we are, writing: “Wasn’t republican conservative(s) throwing a little fit bout this song? ... Anyways this makes my ass itchy.”
As the rapper points out, there also seems to be very little social distancing taking place at the boat party. “I’m callin the fbi on this festivity,” she adds. “They are not quarantining.” (Cardi B recently told i-D that she spent $100,000 on testing for the “WAP” video, so she does have room to talk when it comes to COVID-19 guidelines.)
