The rapper and producer, who held his first campaign rally on July 19, announced his plan to run as an independent candidate under The Birthday Party in the November 3 election, despite reports of missing the deadline to qualify as a non-affiliated candidate in multiple states. On August 12, West shared three images from what appears to be an official line of merch to support his run for presidency on Twitter, with the caption “2020 VISION”. While it’s not clear whether Yeezy intends on selling the items, two of the images feature the slogan “Kanye 2020 Vision” on either side of a shirt, while the other sees the phrase on a hat. Meanwhile, the artist also teased a new album, Donda, in July, but deleted the tweet shortly after. Why the announcement was subsequently removed is unclear and means that – as with all of Kanye’s releases – it should probably be taken with a pinch of salt.
