Now, Bey has released a second trailer, giving us another look at the upcoming Disney+ project. Expanding on the original trailer, the new clips show guests including Jay-Z, Lupita Nyong’o, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Naomi Campbell, and more. Also making an appearance are some of the artists from The Gift, Beyoncé’s 2019 album that was released alongside Disney’s photorealistic Lion King remake (in which she also voiced a leading role). A previous press release for Black Is King says that the visual album “reimagines the lessons of The Lion King for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns”. On Juneteenth (June 19) this year, Beyoncé also released a new song, “Black Parade”, which was accompanied by a directory of Black-owned galleries and businesses to support amid nationwide protests and the coronavirus pandemic. Watch the new Black Is King trailer below. The full project will arrive July 31. Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday.
