Now, the Houston rapper has joined forces with anime streaming site Crunchyroll on an anime-inspired streetwear capsule collection. It’s Hot Otaku Girl Summer, baby! The unisex collection features a selection of long and short-sleeved tees, hoodies, and a canvas tote bag – all of which reference her “Savage” visuals. Megan Thee Stallion’s love of anime has been well-documented over the years, both in her music (her track “Girls in the Hood” shouts out to anime series Naruto), and in real-life (her photoshoot for Paper magazine last year was inspired by popular show My Hero Academia). The rapper spoke about her passion for the Japanese animation during an interview with Crunchyroll’s Tim Lyu earlier this year. “I’m half anime character, half rapper,” she said during the Instagram Live broadcast. “I like how you see a character, and it starts off, he’s not really the strongest, he might be a little weak, but he has to go through all this training. You grow with the character,” she added. “You see all the trials and tribulations they go through. Then you meet new people along the way that help them become the person he needs to be. I apply that to my life a lot.” Read our interview with Megan Thee Stallion here. Pre-order the collection here. Escape the algorithm!
