It’s a joyous follow-up to 2017’s celebrated Rainbow, and reflects the original pop sensibilities of an artist that’s been playing with rock and country – getting down to it, it’s loads of fun. Today is also marked by a Lil Wayne return, with Funeral. The rapper, who we last heard back in 2018 with Tha Carter V, only just teased his new record last week. He’s described it as sounding “a little more like today’s music”, and it features a list of collaborators including Big Sean, Lil Baby, the-Dream, and Jay Rock. We’re also treated to the impressive thirteenth album of Dan Bejar as Destroyer – while Have We Met oscillates in the sonic universe of his last three key records, it gets excitingly darker and twistier. MacKenzie Scott – AKA Torres – also offers up her fourth album, Silver Tongue, an intimate art-pop record that vividly confronts both the euphoric and anxiety-agitating moments of a relationship. Across the week, we’ve also got some new records from Squarepusher, OTHERLiiNE, and Dan Deacon. Take a listen below. DAN DEACON, MYSTIC FAMILIAR DESTROYER, HAVE WE MET KESHA, HIGH ROAD LIL WAYNE, FUNERAL OTHERLIINE, OTHERLIINE SQUAREPUSHER, BE UP A HELLO TORRES, SILVER TONGUE VARIOUS, SLOW DANCE ’19 Escape the algorithm!
