Beastie Boys Story is coming to Apple TV+ this April
A documentary about the Beastie Boys, directed by Spike Jonze, is coming to Apple TV+ on April 24, and the first teaser trailer is out now.
Kicking off with the sound of “Paul Revere” (“Now here’s a little story that I’ve got to tell / About three bad brothers that you know so well”), the trailer for Beastie Boys Story shows images of founding members Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz, Michael “Mike D” Diamond, and the late Adam “MCA” Yauch before cutting to footage from the 2019 stage production that the documentary is based off.
That production – also called Beastie Boys Story – was based off Mike D and Ad-Rock’s memoir, and also directed by Jonze. Earlier this month, Apple TV+ announced they had secured the rights to a documentary based on this show with Jonze attached to direct.
The documentary premieres at South by Southwest this year before landing in IMAX cinemas on April 3 and on Apple TV+ on April 24. Jonze is also releasing a picture book prior to its release on March 17. It’s not the only music documentary coming to the streaming service – a Billie Eilish film is also on its way.
