Nebuchadnezzar was announced last weekend (November 17) and will stream tonight. Now, it’s been revealed that to stream the opera firsthand, you’ll have to be signed up to Tidal (which does have a free trial, if you were wondering). Although, if you’re anywhere near the Hollywood Bowl, where the event is being held, and want to see it in person, there still seem to be a few tickets going spare. The opera supposedly begins at 4pm Pacific Time, which is midnight in the UK – but being Kanye, who knows? The event will be directed by the Italian performance artist and longtime Kanye collaborator Vanessa Beecroft (pictured making preparations this morning). As for the plot, it’s pretty obvious why Kanye is choosing his Jesus Is King period to tell this specific story. “Set in the 6th century BC,” a press release reads, “the Book of Daniel recounts Nebuchadnezzar’s transition from wicked, imperious, self-declared ruler to a true believer who finds salvation in his faith.” Escape the algorithm!
